Your venue is the single biggest decision of your wedding — it shapes the date, the budget, the décor and how your guests will remember the day. Before you fall in love with a space and sign on the spot, run through these ten questions.
Availability & the fine print
- Is my date actually available — and can you hold it while I decide?
- What exactly is included in the base price versus charged extra?
- What is the cancellation and postponement policy if plans change?
Capacity & logistics
A hall that looks grand when empty can feel cramped once you add a stage, buffet and dance floor. Confirm the real, seated-with-décor number — not the theoretical maximum.
- How many guests can you comfortably seat with a stage and buffet?
- Is there dedicated parking, and how much?
- Are there rooms for the bride, groom and family to get ready?
Food, vendors & rules
- Is catering in-house, or can I bring my own?
- Can I use my own decorator, DJ and photographer, or only your panel?
- What are the rules on music timings, alcohol and open flames (for the haldi/mehndi)?
The best venues answer these questions clearly and in writing. Vague answers now become expensive surprises later.
The one question people forget
